"Everybody's somebody in Snellville," so goes the motto for this Gwinnett Country, GA, city with a population of 15,000 people. Located to the east of Atlanta, this growing suburb has become an important commercial and residential development.
The unusual name is derived from its English settler, Thomas Snell, who left England in the late 19th century with two other friends to explore the new world. Since then, Snellville has gone through many changes and upgrades, shifting from an early farm community into a booming industrial suburb with a high median income and steady population growth.
Snellville received it charter from the General Assembly of the State of Georgia in 1923 and has since been recognized as an independent city.
Currently, over 1,150 businesses operate in Snellville. There are numerous agricultural and public parks projects, with over 100 employees contributing to development and maintenance. Snellville is known for its versatile and friendly community. There are a variety of shops, restaurants, schools, and churches, as well as cultural and recreational activities.
